On Thompson Way in Placerville, we were met with the challenge so common in this area. A hill had been removed to make a house pad. The soil making up the yards had originally been two to fifteen feet underground, leaving us with only rocky subsoil in which to create a garden. By digging in many yards of organic compost we created rich gardening soil. The results speak for themselves! All the photos in this gallery were taken within a year of our beginning the project.
